Chris Moulder is an artist, designer and PhD student. The goal of his practice is designing and fabricating interactive lighting sculpture to access the viewer/user on an emotional and phenomenological level. His PhD research focus lies in emotional content coupled with movement, often representing an expressive gesture or a captured moment in dance. This can often be articulated with delicate structures involving the affective use of light and colour, both contained in the work itself and extending out into the space the work occupies. In making these sculptures and experimenting now with sound and reverberance, Chris is seeking a de-materialised and embodied experience for his continuing practice, with the goal being to convey an experience and create a phenomenon which requires more from the viewer than their gaze.
